US Navy destroyer USS Fitzgerald 'flooding' after container ship collision

The US Navy has requested assistance from the Japanese coastguard after a US destroyer collided with a container ship.
Multiple injuries have been reported, according to a US official.

At least three compartments of the USS Fitzgerald are reported to have flooded after the collision with the Philippine vessel southwest of Yokosuka.

Japan's NHK reported that the destroyer was listing.
The USS Fitzgerald is an Arleigh Burke-class (Flight I) guided missile destroyer built in 1993.
