Police officers attacked outside Buckingham Palace as knifeman held



A man carrying a knife has been arrested outside Buckingham Palace on suspicion of attacking two police officers.
 
The alleged offender was held just after 8.30pm on Friday evening on suspicion of assault and grievous bodily harm.


Several witnessed told Sky News they saw a man being "wrestled to the ground" as armed police swooped on the scene.


The Metropolitan Police posted on Twitter: "Officers are on scene at the Mall o/s Buckingham Palace. A man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH and assault on police.


"Two police officers suffered minor injuries during the course of detaining the man.


"No other persons have been reported injured. Officers remain on scene and enquiries are ongoing."
 
 
London Ambulance Service treated the two injured officers at the scene.


Sky's Home Affairs Correspondent Mark White said: "We have seen incidents unfold outside Buckingham Palace in the past.


"As yet there is no suggestion that the attack is terror related, but investigations are still ongoing."
