Burberry's president Christopher Bailey to leave at end of 2018

Burberry's president and chief creative officer, Christopher Bailey, is leaving the company after 17 years.

The fashion house gave no reason for Mr Bailey's departure but said he will leave the firm at the end of next year.

He was chief executive of the company between 2014 and July this year, when he moved aside to his current post.

Mr Bailey said his decision to leave "was not an easy one", but that he was "excited to pursue new creative projects".

He has been credited for transforming the company from a small British firm into a global fashion brand.
However, his tenure as chief executive, which began in 2014, was less of a triumph and was unpopular with shareholders.

On the day in 2016, when Burberry announced he was stepping aside, shares in the company jumped 8%.
