Ryanair's German pilots to strike on Friday, following "unsatisfactory negotiations" over union recognition

Ryanair pilots in Germany have said they will go on strike for four hours on Friday, following "unsatisfactory negotiations" over union recognition.

The pilots' union said initial talks with the airline had been cancelled.

Earlier, the Irish union Impact, which represents pilots, had said the danger of it taking industrial action had "receded for the present".

It said Ryanair had confirmed in writing that the airline it recognised the union for collective bargaining.

Last week, Ryanair wrote to pilot unions in Ireland, the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and Portugal inviting them for talks over union recognition.
It had been facing strike action by pilots around Europe in the run-up to Christmas.
