Swede held at Stansted for 'possessing terror material'

Anti-terror officers are holding a Swedish national after arresting him at Stansted Airport on Tuesday, Scotland Yard has said.

The 34-year-old had just disembarked from a flight from Stockholm and was held on suspicion of possessing material likely to be of use to someone committing or preparing an act of terrorism, the Met Police said.

The man was stopped by Eastern Region Counter Terrorism Police under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act just before 8am.

He is now being held in custody at a police station in Essex.

Investigations by the Met's Counter Terrorism Command are under way. It is not known if the man has been questioned.
